JAKARTA, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Evaluation of test event for the Asian Games on Monday said that the movement of athletes in Indonesia's capital during the regional sport event has been one of the major problems which have to be addressed.
Head of the committee of the Asian Games Erick Thohir disclosed that several measures have been prepared in anticipating slow of transport during the events.
"Allowing students to have holliday and managing operation hours of offices are among the option on the table," he said in Wisma Serbaguna building.
Besides, using the Transjakarta transport facilities and allowing vehicle transporting athletes to pass shoulder of roads are also among the options, Erick added.
The test events had been held from February 8 to 15 in the country's capital of Jakarta.
Traffic jam is the major problem in Jakarta as the city is surrounded by four satellite cities which causes more workers, officials and others entering the capital during the day time.
He went on that coordination among the Indonesian ministries and institution have to be intensified in a bid to smooth works of departments involving in holding matches, he added.
"For instance, coordination with custom office and police is needed for entering sport devices and facilities," said Erick.
Besides, connection of data networks should also be improved, as it strongly relates with data entry process, accreditation and games management system, he said.
Over 11,000 athletes and officials from 45 countries and regions will arrive in Jakarta and Palembang city, the provincial capital of South Sumatra province to participate in the 18th Asian Games, which is scheduled to be held from August 18 to September 2.
A total of 40 sports is scheduled to be contested during the sport event, according to the committee.
