KABUL, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Five national intelligence agency personnel have been killed following an armed attack in eastern Afghan province of Parwan, a local news agency, Pajhwok Afghan News, reported on Thursday.
The victims were serving in neighboring Kapisa province but they were travelling in a vehicle to their homes in Parwan before coming under attack by gunmen in Bagram district of the province, according to the report.
One of the victims named Gulab Din was a senior provincial intelligence official in Kapisa, the report added.
The attackers fled the scene after the shooting and Taliban insurgents have claimed responsibility for the incident.
Bagram Airfield, a main U.S. and NATO forces' military base in Afghanistan, is also located in Bagram district.
The Taliban insurgents launch attacks against security forces in the district, 50 km north of Kabul, from time to time.
