BISHKEK, March 1 (Xinhua) -- A passenger plane made an emergency landing in Kyrgyzstan due to engine failure, the capital's Manas International Airport said on Thursday.
"The plane flew from the Manas airport at 14:22 p.m. local time (0822GMT). After half an hour the pilots requested permission for an emergency landing due to the failure of the left engine," it said.
The aircraft made a safe landing, and none of the 96 passengers were injured, it added.
The RJ-85 plane operated by Tez Jet airline was heading to Kyrgyzstan's southern city of Batken.
The Civil Aviation Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic has formed a commission to study the causes of the incident.
Tez Jet airline was founded in Kyrgyzstan in 2013 and specializes in passenger transportation throughout the country.
