FREETOWN, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Sierra Leone's All People's Congress (APC) presidential candidate Samura Kamara on Saturday paid a visit to the newly elected president Julius Maada Bio and congratulated him on his victory.
Kamara was accompanied by his running mate, Chernor M. Bah, the newly elected mayor of the Freetown City Council, and Yvonne Aki Sawyerr, Secretary General of the APC, among others.
APC has decided to waive an earlier decision to challenge the election result in the Supreme Court.
In the hotly contested runoff presidential election, Bio of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), as an opposition candidate, narrowly defeated the then ruling party candidate Kamara.
Immediately Bio was declared winner by the National Electoral Commission (NEC) and was sworn in as president by the country's chief justice.
