RABAT, May 10 (Xinhua) -- The 18th Session of the Africa Executive Committee of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) will be held on Monday in Rabat, UCLG AFRICA announced in a statement on Thursday.
The event aims at examining the preparations for the Africities 8 Summit, which will take place in Marrakesh, from November 20-24, the statement said.
The Africities 8 Summit will be held under the theme "the transition to sustainable cities and territories, the role of African local governments," the source added.
The UCLG AFRICA is an institution that gathers 40 national associations of local governments from all regions of Africa as well as the 2000 cities that live more than 100,000 inhabitants.
UCLG AFRICA is a founding member of the United Cities and Local Governments world organization, and its regional section for Africa.
UCLG AFRICA is currently headquartered in the Moroccan capital Rabat, where it enjoys a diplomatic status as a Pan-African International Organization.
