TOKYO, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Tuesday as Wall Street's overnight lead set a positive tone here, although profit taking following the market's recent advance capped gains.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 63.6 points, or 0.28 percent, from Monday to close the day at 22,539.54.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 0.27 points, or 0.02 percent, to finish at 1,774.96.
Information and communication, miscellaneous product and rubber product-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
