TOKYO, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Thursday following a solid tone set by Wall Street overnight, with a softer yen against the U.S. dollar also providing support and giving exporter issues a lift.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 182.78 points, or 0.81 percent, from Wednesday to 22,808.51.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 11.29 points, or 0.64 percent, at 1,788.88.
Nonferrous metal, chemical and bank-oriented issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
