ULAN BATOR, June 14 (Xinhua) -- One out of every 10 girls in Mongolia has experienced either physical or sexual violence at some point before the age of 15, according to a first-of-its-kind survey released by the country's National Statistical Office and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) on Thursday.
The survey conducted in 2017 covered over 7,300 females aged 15-64 across the country.
"Women can't fully participate in social and economic life due to the violence. Violence against women can cause long-term physical and mental health problems," UNFPA representative in Mongolia Naomi Kitahara said.
"Therefore, we must do our best to stop gender-based violence," she added.?
