YANGON, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Six people are still missing following Saturday's landslide in Myanmar's jade mining region, Kachin state, said a release from the Information Ministry on Tuesday.
The death toll in the massive landslide has reached 17 with 43 others injured so far, the release added.
The collapse of a 91-meter high pit wall of a disused jade mining site buried scavengers in San-Khar village, Lone-Khin village tract in Hpakant mining region on Saturday afternoon.
Search and rescue operations have been urgently taken in the region as some jade scavengers were buried by massive amount of mud from the collapse.
