KIGALI, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda has issued about 1,000 indictments since 2008 for Rwandan genocide suspects living in different countries, Rwandan prosecutor general Jean Bosco Mutangana said on Wednesday.
Nineteen genocide fugitives were extradited to face trial in Rwanda with the latest being Twagirayezu Wenceslas extradited from Denmark on Tuesday, said Mutangana at a press conference in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda.
Twagirayezu faces charges of genocide, extermination and murder as crimes against humanity.
The 1994 genocide claimed about 1 million lives, mainly ethnic Tutsis and moderate Hutus, in a period of 100 days.
