ISTANBUL, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- A Turkish court in Istanbul on Wednesday sentenced three men to aggravated life imprisonment over involvement in a suicide bombing attack in 2016 that killed 12 German tourists.
The trio were charged with being a member of a terrorist organization, violating the constitution and possessing illegal substance, among others, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
In January 2016, a Syrian national affiliated with the terror group Islamic State blew himself up near a group of German tourists at Istanbul's historic Sultanahmet Square.
A dozen of German tourists were killed and at least 15 others were injured in the attack.
