RABAT, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Morocco on Thursday arrested three people with suspected links to the terror group Islamic State (IS), the Moroccan Interior Ministry announced.
Describing the suspects as "dangerous" IS supporters, the ministry said in a statement that they were operating in the cities of Laayoune, Sale and Marrakech.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects, aged between 24 and 30, had pledged allegiance to IS and were involved in inciting violence and plotting terror attacks.
One of the arrested was plotting terrorist acts inside the kingdom, while the others expressed intention to acquire expertise in the field of producing explosive devices.
The suspects will be brought to justice upon the completion of the investigation, being done under the supervision of the public prosecutor's office, the ministry said.
Official statistics showed that Moroccan security services have so far busted around 50 terrorist cells, over 40 of which were linked to the IS, since 2015.
