JALALABAD, Afghanistan, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- Five militants of the Islamic State (IS) terror group were killed and several others injured as government forces launched an overnight attack in Deh Bala district of eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province.
An army spokesman in the eastern region Shirin Aqa Faqiri said on Saturday that the Special Forces units backed by air power stormed IS hideouts in Charwazi and Narai Auba villages of Deh Bala district late Friday night, killing five militants on the spot and destroying their hideouts and weapon caches.
The IS group has yet to make comment.
