JAKARTA, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's athletics team hopes to acquire at least one gold medal at the 18th Asian Games in the country this year.

Secretary general of the association, Tigor M. Tanjung, said the target was made based on the recent performance of the country's athletes in recent international sporting events.

Tigor stressed that the performance of the athletes is the result of years of practicing and guidance. The secretary general emphasized the importance of sustainability in developing athletes.

In the recent SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, Indonesian athletes secured a total of 15 medals, including five gold medals in athletics.

The 18th Asian Games are scheduled to be held in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta and Palembang city from August 18 to September 2.
