MADRID, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Atletico Madrid's Brazilian left back Felipe Luis will miss this summer's World Cup after breaking his fibula during Thursday's Europa League game against Lokomotiv Moscow.
The Brazilian had to be substituted in the second half of the game which Atletico won 5-1, after a collision with Lokomotiv's Eder.
He underwent tests on the injury as soon as the club returned to Madrid after the game and on Friday morning the club has confirmed the full extent of the injury on its website.
A broken leg will need between three and four months recovery time and means the 32-year-old will miss the rest of the season and will not be able to recover in time for the World Cup finals in Russia.
