NEW DELHI, June 14 (Xinhua) -- At least another 13 people have been killed and 28 others injured in thunderstorms that lashed the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh Wednesday night, officials said Thursday.
Most of the casualties were reported from Gonda, Sitapur and Faizabad districts.
"While 13 people have lost their lives in the deadly thunderstorms, those injured are being treated in various government hospitals," a disaster management official said.
Last week, some 26 people lost their lives in the state in heavy rains, thunderstorms and lightning.
State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief and ordered compensation to be paid for the families of the dead, the official said.
Nearly 250 people were killed and over 400 others injured in heavy rains, thunderstorms and dust storms in several Indian states last month.
