HOHHOT, China, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Switzerland's Anders Peterson and Jennie Oeberg won the men's and women's title respectively at the 2018 FIS Summer Ski Sprint in Yakeshi, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Saturday.
A total of 40 skiers from six countries participated in the 1,400-meter race which saw the white ski track laid just hours before kickoff.
The white ski track was laid by the snow stored from last year winter, according to the organizers.
"The track is quite beautiful and amazing, and I've never skied in the summer before. The Chinese athlete Wang Qiang, who finished in fourth place in the final, did a good job and I hope to meet him this winter," said Peterson.
Troan Aune from Norway and Emil Jonsson from Sweden finished second and third respectively in the men's race, while Emma Hallquist and Kristina Svensson from Sweden came in second and third in women's race.
