GUANGZHOU, July 1 (Xinhua) -- The Michelin Guide has made its second foray into Chinese mainland with the launch of a new guide for the southern city of Guangzhou.
Guangzhou, home to Cantonese food and one of the country's biggest foodie hubs, became the world's 32nd Michelin Guide selection.
Eight restaurants earned their first star in the Michelin Guide Guangzhou 2018, while 20 received a Bib Gourmand recommendation for "exceptionally good food at moderate prices."
Another 35 restaurants were given a Michelin Plate for solid cooking, but not quite up to star level standards. No two or three stars were awarded in Guangzhou.
In 2017, Michelin released a guide for Shanghai.
