MADRID, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Clement Lenglet will join FC Barcelona this season after the club paid the buy out clause for the player, the club announced on Thursday.
According to Barcelona, the buy out clause was 35.9 million euros.
In a press release, the club explained that Lenglet "will sign a contract with the club for the next five seasons until 30 June 2023, with a buy out clause valued at 300 million euros".
The player took part in a photo session on Thursday and on Friday he will sign the contract in a private event to be followed by a press conference.
Barcelona described him as "one of the most promising defenders on the planet" after 10 appearances for the French national team and being a leading defender in Seville "with elegance and determination".
Meanwhile, Thursday all saw Barcelona's first signing of the new season player, the Brazilian midfielder Arthur, sign the contract, held a presentation and a press conference.
