LONDON, July 24 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.70 percent, or 53.26 points, to close at 7,709.05 points.
BHP billiton, a global resources company, soared 5.73 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Anglo American and Glencore increased by 5.63 percent and 5.61 percent respectively.
