HANOI, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Some 200 Vietnamese and foreign pilots will perform at an annual paragliding festival named "Flying in the Yellow Season" from Sept. 21 to 23 in Vietnam's northern Yen Bai province.
The pilots will paraglide over Khau Pha, one of Vietnam's longest passes, more than 1,200 meters above the sea level and visitors can paraglide with them, the three-day event's organizers said on Friday, noting that the spectacular yellow ripening paddy rice fields all come to paragliders' eyes.
Khau Pha in Mu Cang Chai district is considered by many Vietnamese and foreign pilots as one of the most beautiful paragliding sites in the world. Meanwhile, many Vietnamese and foreign visitors come to the district to enjoy breathtaking terraced rice fields, especially in harvest season.
Mu Cang Chai has 500 hectares of rice terraces cultivated by the Hmong ethnic people for centuries. The local terraces among the 2,500 hectares are recognized as Vietnam's national heritage sites.
