WINDHOEK, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Namibian President Hage Geingob on Tuesday commended China for its pledge to assist Africa in industrializing and boosting infrastructure in the next three years.
In a statement released by his office after his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Geingob described China as an all-weather friend.
"We are here, at this FOCAC Summit, to continue enhancing the unbreakable solidarity and cooperation that exists between China and Africa," the president said, referring to the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
"In Namibia, we have always espoused the principles of Unity, Liberty and Justice. Unity enabled us to fight for our liberty, but we are still struggling for justice; that of economic equality and social justice," Geingob said.
"Furthermore, we note, with appreciation, China's announcement that it will implement eight major initiatives with African countries in the next three years and beyond," the president said.
The eight major initiatives include industrial promotion, infrastructure connectivity, trade facilitation, green development, capacity building, health care, people-to-people exchange, peace and security.
"We stand ready, to collaborate with our Chinese brothers and sisters to develop tangible projects in these areas, which will result in the enhanced prosperity of the African and Chinese people," Geingob said.
