ISLAMABAD, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Pakistani military said Monday that a civilian was killed in Indian forces' firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed Kashmir region.
"In continuation of violation of cease fire understanding, Indian army resorted to unprovoked firing and targeted civilian population in Khanjar Sector of Line of Control (LoC)," an army statement said.
A civilian was killed due to the "unprovoked" mortar shelling of Indian troops, the statement from the army's media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations, said.
"Responding to this aggression, Pakistan Army posts retaliated effectively and engaged enemy posts involved in unprovoked fire on innocent civilian population," the military said.
Pakistan and India had declared ceasefire along the LoC and the working boundary in 2003. Both, however, routinely accuse each other of violating the ceasefire.
