SARAJEVO, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has issued on Friday an indictment against former commander Atif Dudakovic and 16 members, charging them with crimes against humanity.

The accused persons were members of the 5th Corps of the Army of Republic of BiH during 1992-1995 war. They were accused of committing crimes against humanity in six municipalities in the northwest region of the country.

"The accused are charged with the killing of more than 300 persons of Serb ethnicity, majority of whom were civilians, mostly elderly persons, and soldiers who had surrendered or had been captured and thus were incapacitated for combat," the indictment stated.

The 16 members are charged with the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity, while Dudakovic is charged with the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians.

"One part of the indictment against Dudakovic refers to war crimes committed against Bosniak victims (Muslims) and supporters of the National Defence of the Autonomous Province of Western Bosnia," Prosecutor's Office official website stated on Friday.

The Prosecutor's Office will prove the allegations of the indictment by summonsing 447 witnesses, 6 expert witnesses and by tendering more than 1,100 pieces of evidentiary material.

The indictment has been forwarded to BiH Court.
