DHAKA, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's annual tax fair began on Tuesday in capital Dhaka and elsewhere in the country.
Bangladeshi Finance Minister AMA Muhith inaugurated the weeklong tax fair aimed at widening the tax base of the country and increasing the annual revenues of the government.
Bangladesh's National Board of Revenue (NBR) organized the fair that is scheduled to be continued till Nov. 19.
The fair witnessed mad rush of taxpayers from its beginning on Tuesday morning.
NBR officials said that this year the income tax fair will be held in hundreds of places across Bangladesh.
The deadline for submitting the income tax return for individual taxpayers has been fixed at Nov. 30.
Earlier on Monday, the best taxpayers for the last 2017-18 fiscal year (July 2017-June 2018) were honored in a gala function in Dhaka in presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
