ACCRA, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Ghana has intensified its preparations ahead of the 2018 Africa Women's Cup of Nations (AWCON) which begins on Wednesday.
The two-week competition takes place in the cities of Accra and Cape Coast, and organizing committee chairperson Freda Prempeh has reiterated Ghana's readiness to host a successful tournament.
"We are prepared and ready for the tournament. Accommodation and training facilities are ready for the tournament," she told an Accra radio station.
Ghana's Black Queens have been paired in Group A of the 2018 AWCON, alongside Algeria, Cameroon and Mali.
Defending champions Nigeria are housed in Group B which also features South Africa, Kenya and Zambia.
The hosts will face Algeria at the Accra Sports Stadium in the tournament's opening game on November 17, with the final taking place on December 1.
The competition's top three teams will qualify as Africa's representatives to the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France.
