NEW DELHI, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- A devastating fire broke out Saturday evening at an under-construction 60-storey residential tower - the tallest building in India's eastern city of Kolkata.
No loss of life or injury to anyone was reported in the accident in Kolkata, the capital city of West Bengal state.
The fire broke out in "The 42" building located on Chowringhee Road near posh Park Street area.
Authorities immediately rushed fire tenders to the spot to contain the fire.
"Fire was reported on the eighth floor of the building, which is under construction," an official said. "Four fire tenders are on spot to douse the flame."
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. However, initial reports said the welding work to install outdoor units of air-conditioner machines might have triggered the blaze.
