MAIMANA, Afghanistan, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Ten security personnel have been confirmed dead and three others injured after Taliban militants attacked a security checkpoint in Qaisar district of the northern Faryab province on Sunday, a member of provincial council Abdul Ahad Albeg said Monday.
A group of Taliban insurgents, according to the official, stormed a security checkpoint in Arkalik area of Qaisar district late Sunday night. After killing 10 security personnel and injuring three others, they fled the area, Albeg said.
Police have yet to confirm the report.
Qaisar district has been the scene of Taliban-led militancy in the restive Faryab province over the past few years.
