KUNMING, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- A Digital Belt and Road big Earth data platform was launched at the on-going 3rd Conference of Digital Belt and Road held in Tengchong, southwest China's Yunnan Province.
As an A-class strategic high-tech research project initiated by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2016, the cloud service platform aims to establish an open international center for big Earth data.
The platform incorporates 94 sets of thematic data involving resources, environment, climate, disasters, heritages and so on in countries along the Belt and Road.
Besides the Chinese language, English and French versions were also launched.
Through cooperation between satellites, ground-based and sea-based observation with Belt and Road countries, the platform can provide supports in monitoring agriculture, heritage site, eco-environmental change, coastline evolution, natural disaster, urban expansion and key project construction, said Guo Huadong, head of the project.
