KIGALI, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- At least two Rwandans were killed and eight others injured when unidentified attackers torched three passenger vehicles Saturday evening in southern Nyamagabe district, near the border with Burundi, a military official said.
Army spokesman Lt. Col Innocent Munyengango said in a statement that the attackers fled into a forest and that the army was pursuing them.
Two days earlier, President Paul Kagame said two Rwandan soldiers were killed by rebels who crossed the border from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Border areas in eastern African countries have seen a continuity of sporadic attacks from rebel groups in recent years.
Early this month at an East African regional meeting on cross-border terrorism, Uganda's police chief Okoth Ochola said pockets of outlawed armed groups had inflicted untold suffering to the people of Uganda, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo and Central Africa. Enditem
