LONDON, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.09 percent, or 6.10 points, to close at 6,734.23 points.
Next, a British multinational clothing, footwear and home products retailer, soared 4.66 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Fresnillo and Paddy Power Betfair increased by 3.26 percent and 2.81 percent, respectively.
Glencore, an Anglo-Swiss multinational commodity trading and mining company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 3.04 percent.
