RABAT, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- A total of 3,435 people were killed in road accidents in Morocco between November 2017 and October 2018, Moroccan Secretary of State for Transportation Mohamed Najib Boulif said Wednesday.
Speaking at General Assembly of the National Committee for Road Accident Prevention, Boulif said that the number of deaths decreased by 3.16 percent.
However, the number of accidents raised by 6.5 percent to 94,431 accidents, according to the statistics revealed on this assembly by the Moroccan Secretary of State.
As for the number of seriously wounded victims, it fell by 4.37 percent to stand at 8,731, the statistics show.
In 2016, the Moroccan government adopted a national road safety strategy aiming at reducing the fatalities in road accidents by 25 percent in 2021 and 50 percent by 2026.
