JAKARTA, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian badminton association will announce the target of the country's badminton squad in the forthcoming 30th SEA Games in the Philippine in June, senior official at the association disclosed here on Friday.
Head of sport development of the Indonesian badminton association Susy Susanti revealed that gold medals will be included in the target, but she did not come into specifics on the target of the team in the regional sport event scheduled to be held in the Philippine capital city of Manila from November 30 to December 11 of this year.
Accordingly, Susy said that the association will include the best players into the country's team.
"The qualification of our young shuttlers is not significantly different from senior players. They are only lack of records of having achievement at the international level," she said.
The upcoming SEA Games will be a stepping stone for Indonesian athletes before competing in the Asian Games and the 2020 Tokyo Olympic, according to Indonesian youth and sport minister Imam Nahrawi.
Indonesian badminton team posed the second position during the SEA Games 2017 in Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia, by securing 2 gold medals and 4 bronze medals.
