YANGON, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities have seized a large amount of narcotic drugs in Moemeik of Kachin state and Ma Bein in Shan state, according to a press release of the Home Ministry issued late on Sunday.
The seizure of drugs worth of a total of 4.624 billion kyats (3.08 million U.S. dollars) was made by a combined force of anti-drug squad on Saturday when a Mitshubishi Triton car was intercepted on Moemeik-Mabein road, finding some heroin weighing 2.21 kg and 2.29 million tablets of stimulants hidden in 221 soap cups.
Further search into a house in Mabein, Shan state revealed more illegal drugs.
Moreover, 74,180 more stimulant drug tablets worth of 222.54 million kyats (148,360 U.S. dollars) were also confiscated at a ward near a cinema in Insein, Yangon region on Friday.
A total of four people have been filed by the police under the country's Anti-Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
