RAMALLAH, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Palestinian ambassador to the EU said on Thursday that the representative of the Arab League (AL) at the EU has submitted a request to an EU-AL meeting held in Cairo for the EU's recognition of a Palestinian state along the 1967 borders.
Abdel Rahim Al-Farra said the EU countries were requested to play a bigger role in the peace process and recognize the Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Palestinians have repeatedly demanded the international community oversee the peace process with Israel, after U.S. President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital on Dec. 6, 2017, and moved his country's embassy in Israel to the city on May 14, 2018.
