CAIRO, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Egypt-China Friendship Association on Saturday held a reception to celebrate the Chinese Spring Festival.
The reception, organized by the association's headquarters in central Cairo, was attended by about 100 Egyptian diplomats, officials, thinkers as well as Chinese diplomatic, trade, media and education sources.
Vice Chairman of Egypt-China Friendship Association Ahmed Wally welcomed the attendees in a speech, and reviewed the key events of the association in 2018.
The Egypt-China Friendship Association was founded in 1958 and celebrated in 2018 its 60th anniversary.
Egypt-China relations have achieved several points of success thanks to the efforts exerted by the two countries.
"The friendship between Cairo and Beijing will render more success this year," Wally said.
He also drew comparison between the Chinese Spring Festival and Sham El-Nessim, an Egyptian holiday marking the beginning of spring, in which families in both nations gather to celebrate.
Wang Yi, counselor of the Chinese embassy in Egypt, on behalf of Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Song Aiguo, delivered a speech which highlighted the exchange of visits between the two countries in all domains at various levels.
Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi paid a successful visit to China in September last year.
The trade exchange between the two countries amounted to 13 billion U.S. dollars in 2018, said Wang, expressing thanks to the efforts exerted by the Egypt-China Friendship Association and Egyptian friends.
