KUNMING, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- A tour guide in southwest China's Yunnan Province has been stripped of his license after an online video went viral showing him quarreling with a tourist.
The video taken on Feb. 2 showed the tour guide, who was identified only by surname as Pu, quarreling with a tourist on a bus in Dali, a well-known tourist city.
Local tourism authorities also fined the travel agency with which Pu worked 100,000 yuan (about 14,800 U.S. dollars).
The incident came as local authorities have taken measures to regulate the tourism industry and address complaints of tourists since 2017.
Known for its diverse cultures of ethnic minorities and picturesque scenery, Yunnan is a favored tourist destination in China. It received about 688 million tourists from home and abroad in 2018, up 20 percent year-on-year.
