GHAZNI, Afghanistan, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Six Taliban militants including a key commander were confirmed dead in government forces' operations in east Afghanistan's Ghazni province on Friday, a government spokesman said Saturday.
The government forces stormed a Taliban hideout in Qarabagh district of the eastern province on Friday afternoon, said Aref Nuri, the provincial government spokesman.
The air operations were conducted on tip off against a militants' hideout in Jamal Khil area of Qarabagh district, leaving six insurgents including commander Rafiullah killed and a few others injured, according to the official.
Describing Rafiullah as notorious, the official said that the physical elimination of Rafiullah could lead to improving security situation in the restive province.
Taliban militants haven't commented on the operations.
