KABUL, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- Counter-narcotics police have discovered and burned more than 5 tons of illicit drugs in Afghanistan's eastern Paktia province, said a statement of Interior Ministry released here on Saturday.
Units of counter-narcotics police launched operations in Gul Ghundi area of Zazai Aryub district on Friday during which more than 5 tons of illicit drugs including 3.2 tons of hashish were discovered and set on fire, the statement added.
However, the statement didn't say if anyone has been arrested.
This is the second consignment of drugs that Afghan police have confiscated over the past one week.
In the previous operations, police discovered more than 1.6 tons of illicit drugs in the eastern Nangarhar province, police confirmed.
