BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- An own goal from defender Manuel Guanini handed Defensa y Justicia a 1-0 win over Gimnasia on Saturday and lifted the small club from the city of Florencio Varela to the top of the Superliga Argentina standings.
Guanini turned the ball into his own net in the 15th minute and the goal was enough to give Defensa y Justicia their 13th win from 19 matches this season.
They hold a three-point lead over second-placed Racing Club, who could regain top spot by beating Godoy Cruz at home on Monday.
Gimnasia dropped to 22nd in the 26-team standings, 27 points behind the leaders.
In other matches on Saturday, Newell's Old Boys drew 1-1 at San Lorenzo, Patronato were held to a goalless home draw by Aldosivi and San Martin drew 1-1 at home to Independiente.
