BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Banfield kept alive their hopes of qualifying for next year's Copa Libertadores with a 1-0 victory at Colon in the Superliga Argentina on Friday.
Juan Alvarez's 16th-minute strike was enough to guarantee his team's sixth win of the season as they rose to 11th in the 26-team standings.
The outfit from Buenos Aires province moved to 27 points, five points behind fifth-placed Huracan, who occupy the Superliga's last Copa Libertadores spot.
Colon slid to 19th, seven points adrift of Banfield with just four wins from 19 matches.
In Friday's other matches, Lanus won 2-0 at home to Rosario Central and Tigre secured a 2-1 home victory over Patronato.
