LUSAKA, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Zambia's soccer governing body on Monday decided not to renew the contract with current national team head coach Sven Vandenbroek when it expires next month.
Adrian Kashala, Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) general secretary, said in a release that the decision came from an executive meeting held over the weekend.
Vandenbroek took the reins in July 2018, with a goal to qualify the country to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, which the team has failed to do.
The soccer governing body has since appointed former international Aggrey Chiyangi as the first assistant coach.
Vandenbroek's last game will be the 2019 Group K qualifier against Namibia, which has been a formality game for Zambia.
