MAIMANA, Afghanistan, March 11 (Xinhua) -- One civilian lost his life and four others including two women sustained injuries as the armed insurgents opened fire on a car in the northern Faryab province on Sunday, provincial government spokesman Abdul Karim Yurash said Monday.
According to the official, the ill-fated civilians were travelling from provincial capital Maimana to Qaisar district on Sunday evening when the armed militants operating on the road ordered them to stop but the driver accelerated to flee. But the militants opened fire killing one on the spot and injuring four others.
Yurash blamed the Taliban militants for intentionally targeting the civilians.
