BEIJING, March 21 (Xinhua) -- The China Writers Association on Thursday launched a poverty relief program together with a domestic enterprise to encourage more Chinese writers to visit rural or less developed areas.
The program plans to invite about 50 writers, including winners of top literature prizes in China, to visit cities or counties in southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, northwest China's Shaanxi Province and several other provincial-level regions.
The writers will have the opportunity to take a closer look at the on-going poverty relief campaign in these areas and are expected to write more works based on their experiences, according to the China Writers Association.
They will also be invited to give literature lessons to students and literature fans in the areas they visit.
