BANGKOK, April 5 (Xinhua) -- No chemical foams will be allowed for all revelers of Songkran festival throughout Thailand, said a senior police general on Friday.
Deputy National Police commissioner General Pol. Gen. Chalermkiat Srivorakhan said no chemical foams will be allowed during Songkran water-splashing festival anywhere due to possible hazards to health.
Chemical foams had been sprayed upon festival goers at certain venues in previous years, causing irritations to the eye and skin. Last year, a person reportedly died from exposure to some chemical foam, he said.
Only fresh water will be allowed for Songkran revelers, according to the deputy police chief.
