YANGON, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The year 2018 could be marked as a milestone for China's Huawei mobile, with proceeds for the year totaling 105.19 billion U.S. dollars, said Zhu Bo, assistant general manager of Huawei Myanmar, on Monday.
Speaking at a press conference clarifying the release of 2018 Annual Report of Huawei, Zhu said the year 2018 was good for Huawei, saying the proceeds for the year increased 19.5 percent as compared with the previous year. However, the sale income for carrier business stood 42.88 billion dollars in 2018, slightly down from the previous year.
Huawei won a net profit of 8.64 billion dollars, increasing by 25.1 percent as compared with the previous year, he said.
Huawei sold over one million smart phones in 2018, increasing by 36 percent with its consumer business from the previous year, he added.
Huawei pledged to continue leading in the technology sector in 2019 with investment in 5G, broad band, cloud and AI.
Meanwhile, Myanmar authorities are making efforts to introduce 5G network, fifth generation of cellular network technology, in the country.
A series of initiatives and policy measures are to be implemented over the next five years to create a broadband infrastructure asset for the country.
