ULAN BATOR, April 20 (Xinhua) -- The final round of the 18th "Chinese Bridge," an annual Chinese language and culture proficiency competition for college students, concluded here on Saturday.
Under the theme of "One World and One Family," nineteen finalists from a number of leading Mongolian universities competed in the final round of the Mongolian regional contest in the three categories featuring "free speeches," "Q&As" and "Chinese talent show."
The winner was Sarangerel Erdene-Ochir, a first year student at the National University of Mongolia. He will represent Mongolia at the final competition to be held in China.
"I am very excited about winning the grand prize of the Mongolian regional contest of the 18th 'Chinese Bridge.' I also got a scholarship to study a master's degree in China, one step closer to my dream," said Erdene-Ochir.
The 19-year-old winner started learning Chinese when he was just 6 years old.
All finalists were awarded prizes and certificates according to their individual results.
The competition was co-organized by the Confucius Institute Headquarters, the Confucius Institute at National University of Mongolia, the Mongolian Chinese Teachers Association, the China-Mongolia Cultural and Education Foundation, as well as the Chinese Cultural Center in Ulan Bator.
