RABAT, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Moroccan regional contest of the 18th "Chinese Bridge" language competition was held on Sunday in Casablanca, the biggest city of Morocco.
Hosted by the Confucius Institute Headquarters in China, the competition consists of four parts: Chinese writing, keynote speech, quiz and talent performance.
The Confucius institutes recommended 16 candidates from three major Moroccan universities to contend for the championship.
More than 100 spectators attended the contest, including Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Morocco Chen Dongyun.
El Houcine Zraidi from Hassan II University came out on top with his fluent Chinese and superb singing skills and he will travel to China to compete with contestants from other countries in this year's final round of "Chinese Bridge."
Mohamed Amine Zerrade from Mohammed V University won the second place.
"The contest is not only a good opportunity to evaluate the level of my Chinese, but also a platform to communicate with other lovers of Chinese culture," he said.
