RIO DE JANEIRO, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Juventus have reportedly joined the race to sign highly rated Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
The Italian Serie A champions face competition for the 21-year-old's signature from a growing list of clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, AC Milan, Napoli, Ajax and Benfica, Brazilian news portal Globo Esporte reported on Monday.
Guimaraes has been in outstanding form in 2019, having anchored Athletico's midfield while also providing an attacking threat.
The deep-lying playmaker has scored twice in five Copa Libertadores group matches since March and netted again in Athletico's 4-1 victory over Vasco da Gama in their opening match of the Brazilian Serie A season on Sunday.
Guimaraes is contracted with Athletico until February 2023 and is understood to have a 40 million-euro buyout clause.
He has made 36 top flight appearances for the Curitiba club since his 2017 move from boyhood side Audax.
