TIANJIN, May 17 (Xinhua) -- The 2019 RoboCup Asia-Pacific Invitational Tournament opened in north China's Tianjin on Friday, focusing on the robot combat on football game.

The two-day event attracted some 100 teams from all over the world to participate in six robot combat football competitions, including the RoboCupSoccer Humanoid League, RoboCupSoccer Standard Platform, RoboCupSoccer Middle size League, RoboCup@home League, RCAP CoSpace Grand Prix and RCAP CoSpace Rescue.

The tournament was organized by the Tianjin Municipal Government and the RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP) Confederation, an international academic organization aimed at building up robotics and AI education, research and industry.

RCAP hosts a number of events each year in the Asia-Pacific region. The Tianjin tournament also includes two symposiums on robot industry and education, attracting Chinese and foreign scholars and representatives of enterprises in the robotics fields.
